Juliane Scheder obtained her Master in Physical Geography in 2015 and her PhD in 2020 at the University of Cologne (Germany) and the Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research, Wilhelmshaven (Germany). First contacts with costal research occurred already during her Bachelor studies and led to research interests in Holocene micropalaeontology, sedimentology and sea-level research.
Previous research areas include the coasts of Chile, Portugal and the German North Sea coast and now she is working on the NORSEAT Project (Storegga and beyond – NOrth SEA Tsunami deposits offshore Shetland Islands) to reconstruct the relative sea-level (RSL) history of the Shetland Islands (UK) by establishing and applying a microfauna-based transfer function. The final RSL curve will support the reconstruction of tsunami run-up heights.
Member of the German Working Group of “Geography of Seas and Coasts” and the Cologne Society of Geography.
